Our holiday home is situated in
the small hamlet of LA REORTHE in a rural location of the Vendee
region
of France within the PAYS DE LA LOIRE. The surrounding area offers
lakes, woods and
stunning scenery, a must for walkers cyclists, bird
watchers and lovers of the countryside.
The Pays de la Loire is probably best known for the Loire
valley with the
Loire river acting as thebackbone of the
region and flanked by many
historic towns and
elegant chateaux. The region provides lovely sandy beaches with
stretches
of rocky coastline and coves.
Access is excellent from all
of the Channel ports and
by road,
rail and air.
How to get to our home from the UK
By air
British Airways fly regularly from London Gatwick to Nantes.
Ryanair fly inexpensively from London Stanstead to
La Rochelle and Poitiers.
Flybe operate from Southampton to La Rochelle.
By Train
The Eurostar travels from London Waterloo to Paris Nord. It is then
possible to take the metro
from Paris Montparnasse to catch the TGV to
Nantes.
By Car
There are a number of ferry companies that operate from many of the UK
ports to various French
ports.
